Saltbush is subject to the requirements of the National Privacy Principles which are contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and which govern how private sector organisations handle personal information (as defined).

What information do we collect?

Saltbush is an Australian Financial Services Licensee (Licence No. 223522) and trustee of wholesale funds for wholesale investors only (meaning 'wholesale clients' as defined in section 761G of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)). For the purposes of our privacy policy, these are referred to as 'our services'.

Saltbush only collects personal information about you which is reasonably necessary to:

  • provide you our services or respond to any enquiries you make to us;
  • consider applications you make to us;
  • maintain your contact details.

Saltbush generally holds personal information relating to:

  • the services we provide or have provided to you;
  • your financial interests and your financial position as a wholesale investor;
  • your contact details.

If you ask Saltbush to supply you with our services, the types of information Saltbush will ask you to provide are your name, address, contact details, tax file number, date of birth and financial information such as your income. Saltbush may also request other information about you appropriate to the services being provided. However, we don't collect information we don't need.

Saltbush requires this personal information to provide you with our services and to manage our business relationship with you as a wholesale investor or to respond to your enquiries.

Generally, Saltbush will not collect sensitive information about you (such as details of your race, political beliefs, religion or health) unless required by applicable laws or rules.

Saltbush may also collect limited personal information in respect of its suppliers such as contact names and details in connection with supply of goods or services from those suppliers.

How is that information used?

We use the personal information collected from you only for the purposes for which it was disclosed to us, to provide you with our services, for related purposes which would reasonably be expected without your permission or otherwise as permitted by law.

For example, Saltbush may from time to time use your personal information to inform you of investment opportunities or to provide information about our services which we expect may be of interest to you. However, we do respect your right to ask us not to do this.

We do not sell personal information to other organisations to allow them to do this.

For legal reasons, other disclosures may need to be made to law enforcement agencies, government agencies, courts or external advisors. For example, Saltbush may be required to disclose certain personal information under the Corporations Act 2001. Saltbush's policy is to only make such disclosures in accordance with the Privacy Act and other applicable law.

In some circumstances, Saltbush may disclose personal information to service providers who provide services in connection with our services, such as investment managers and custodians of Saltbush funds in which you have invested.

Keeping information secure

Saltbush uses security procedures and appropriate technology to protect the security of personal information held by it. Saltbush's IT systems are password protected and if personal information is held on paper files, it is stored in our secure premises. Access to and use of personal information within Saltbush is appropriately limited to prevent misuse or unlawful disclosure of that information.

Access and Correction

Under the Privacy Act, you have a right to seek access to information which Saltbush holds about you (although there are some exceptions to this). You also have the right to ask us to correct information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

If you wish to exercise your right under the Privacy Act to seek access to the personal information that Saltbush holds about you, we ask that you contact Saltbush's Privacy Officer (details below), who will explain how Saltbush will handle your access request. In normal circumstances, Saltbush will give you full access to your information. However, there may be some legal or administrative reasons to deny access. If access is denied, we will provide you with the reason why.

If you consider that personal information we hold about you is not accurate, complete or up to date, please provide Saltbush's Privacy Officer with your request for correction (contact details below). Saltbush's policy is to consider any requests for correction in a timely way.
